Ghostbusters 2

The Ghostbusters are out of business.  Five years pass and they are being sued by the city of New York for their previous battle against Gozer.   Things are looking rough.  Ray Stantz and Winston Zeddemore have become a sideshow at children’s parties, Egon Spengler works in a lab, Peter Venkman hosts a low budget physic TV show, and Dana Barrett works in a museum restoring works of art as well as raising her new baby Oscar.

For no reason Oscar’s carriage seems to become possessed and beings rolling down the street nearly getting crushed by traffic.  The broken up Ghostbusters decide to take a look.  While they investigate across town Dana’s boss Dr. Janosz Poha is restoring a large painting of a 17th century tyrant named Vigo the Carpathian.  Located inside the painting is Virgo’s spirit.  Virgo order Janosz to locate a child that he can use as a physical form to come back as a man.  The Ghostbusters continue their investigation and determine that they need to take a look under the street.  When Ray is lowered through the manhole he notices a large amount of pink slime. As he is able to obtain a sample Ray accidently knocks out most of the power to the city.  The Ghostbusters are quickly arrested and later appear in court.  During their appearance in court the judge gets angry and begins to shout.  The pink slime produces two ghosts as a response to the anger.  Luckily the Ghostbusters are able to capture the ghosts using their old equipment.  The Ghostbusters are back in business!  They guys quickly test the pinks slime and come to a conclusion that the slim absorbs emotion.  It seems to expand with negative emotions and constrict with positive.  Meanwhile, Dana is giving her son Osacar a bath as the pink slime appears and unsuccessfully attempts to grab her baby.  The following morning the Ghostbusters investigate the painting of Virgo and notice the presence of the spirit.  The following night the team discovers that the underground river of slime leads directly to the location of the painting in the museum.

Janosz kidnaps Oscar while Dana heads to the museum.  After Dana enters the museum the slime encases the building in a solid slime shell.  The Ghostbusters are called to destroy the shell and release the museum.  The team is unable to break the shell with their equipment.   They develop a plan to expose the Statue of Liberty to the pink slime.  The Statue of Liberty comes to life and the Ghostbusters ride the statue to the building and use the torch to bust through the roof of the museum.  Once inside the Ghostbusters witness Vigo come out of the painting and grab Oscar.  On the exterior of the museum the crowd that has formed is made aware of the slime’s sensitivity to emotion and begins to sing Auld Lany Syne.  This gives the Ghostbusters and advantage and allows them to drive Virgo back into the painting.  In one last attempt to escape Vigo possesses Ray but is quickly destroyed by the contracting slime.  The former portrait of Vigo is now replaced with a portrait of the Ghostbusters acting as protectors to Oscar.
